Bruno Posted December 8, 2004 Posted December 8, 2004 Well, the permissions are okay . . . . . .I really can not see what could be wrong . . . . Bruno Quote
longgone Posted December 8, 2004 Author Posted December 8, 2004 Well .... lets try an make a shortcut and see what might happen...... BUT I did attempt to d/l Thunderbird earlier ... and it asked if I wanted to open it using gunzip , I clickrd yes (default), but I could not find it anywhere so I did a re-d/l to try again .... and that is where we are at now..... Quote
longgone Posted December 9, 2004 Author Posted December 9, 2004 Amazing ... I got it to work .. did not do anything different than yesterday either ... must have something to deo with my clicks .. ... now ... in the Thunderbird folder under the sub folder "icons" is an icon I would like to use in my task bar ... how do I go about getting it from the sub folder to the task bar ???? Quote
Bruno Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 GREAT news Dale !!Now for the Icon on the taskbar:Righclick on the taskbar and choose Add --> Special button --> Non KDE Applicationyou get a pop up window where you can type the command /home/dale/thundebird/thunderbird or something like that . . . and at the right in that pop-up you see a little icon, press the icon and navigate to the folder that holds the icon you want to use . . . That is all there is to it ! :DB) Bruno Quote
longgone Posted December 9, 2004 Author Posted December 9, 2004 .......Bruno,,,, not quite sure how that would work ... the icon is located in the icon sub-folder in the thunderbird folder it is .." mozicon.xpm " .... this particular icon is not in the list of icons that are in the group of icons that are in the group that are contained in that command ... Quote
Bruno Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Hi DaleFron the Icon dialog you can choose "System Icons" or "Other Icons" . . . you just choose "Other Icons" and push the "Browse Button" . . . . then you navigate to the right folder and pick the icon you want to use . . . . Bruno Quote
longgone Posted December 10, 2004 Author Posted December 10, 2004 Uh huh uh .... already got it .. took a little more than the post though ... had to create the file I needed in order to get the icon I wanted ... just a couple other steps but the end result was ... SUCCESS ... I am learning a little Bruno .... one day at a time ... next step will be to transfer all the info/folders etc that are in Drake Thunderbird over to SuSE Thunderbird ??????????????????/ Quote
Bruno Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 That is great Dale . . . . . learning is what we all want to do . . . . . . Now, if you give me the path to the folders ypou want to copy over from Drake to SUSE . . and tell me on what hda SUSE is located, I will make you the commands to do so. Bruno Quote
longgone Posted December 10, 2004 Author Posted December 10, 2004 ......... Path ???????????? .... lost .. they are sub folders within the local folders heading ... they are "me (self)" created .. and SuSE resides on HDA10 .. Drake 10.1 is over on HDB1/5/6 ........... Quote
Bruno Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Well, what folders of thunderbird would you actually want to move ?? Bruno Quote
longgone Posted December 10, 2004 Author Posted December 10, 2004 ..........Well in the long term all of it ..... I have this plan that involves my other machine ... as soon as I get it all back and running and after my surgeries are done ... Since grub is the default for SuSE and Fedora .. I want to set them up on one hard disc and eventually move entirely to SuSE primarily and Fedora Secondary ... but that is a bit into the future ... for the short term it might be easiest to "archive" the folders and the info contained within and move them one at a time .. this is not a project that needed to be done yesterday ..... it can stretch out over time .. Quote
Bruno Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Okay we will transfer all of it . . :DLet me see ( in Mandrake ) # ls /mnt Bruno Quote
