longgone Posted November 10, 2004 Author Posted November 10, 2004 It did .. only place I had to do was the d/l list ... now about that icon Quote
Bruno Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Okay the Icon . . . give me a few minutes to figure that one out . . . :DB) Bruno Quote
Bruno Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Okay here it is: ( 3 easy steps )Step 1: Go to: http://www.kde-look.org/content/preview.ph...eee8794b748f179Righclick on the icon as choose "Save Image As" . . . it will want to save it as "4172-1.png" . . just change that to "My-FF.png" and save it to your /home/daleStep 2: The next command: cp  /home/dale/My-FF.png /home/dale/firefox/icons Step 3: Go to your shortcut and change the icon to /home/dale/firefox/icons/My-FF.pngThat should do the trick Bruno Quote
longgone Posted November 10, 2004 Author Posted November 10, 2004 Before I start this adventure .. the current shortcut icon is the single KDE gear, can I just delete that without causing any havoc ..... I take it step 2 is done as ... su ... and step 3 ... I shall be back Quote
Bruno Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 You don't delete it . . . you just replace it . . . . in the preferences of the shortcut on the first tab you see the present icon, if you click on it you get a dialog to get another icon, choose "Other Icons" and "Browse" Bruno Quote
longgone Posted November 10, 2004 Author Posted November 10, 2004 This is not working as planned ... I followed destructions (to thebest of my understanding) ,, but when I d/l'd the image .. I got the whole enchilada .. not just the one I wanted.. Quote
Bruno Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Okay . . I got it now . . download this:http://www.kde-look.org/content/download.p...e6a5b99c1952700It is a .tar.gz package . . . . put it in /home/dale and unpack it . . . in there is the phoenix.png :DB) Bruno Quote
longgone Posted November 10, 2004 Author Posted November 10, 2004 extract here or some other method Quote
Bruno Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 "Extract Here" is the easiest way . . . . . . and just copy and paste the icon you want to a place you find convienient :DB) Bruno Quote
longgone Posted November 10, 2004 Author Posted November 10, 2004 Welll .. extraction appears to have been accomplished ... after that .. I am lost in the woods Quote
Bruno Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Look in the new folder you have in /home/dale now . . . named something like "Noia-Apps-WWW" . . . . in there is "phoenix.png" . . That is the icon you were after !So now go to the FireFox shortcut you want to change the icon from . . . rightclick on that shortcut and choose "preferences" . . . . then in the dialog you get click on the icon to change it . . you get yet another dialog: choose "Other icon" and browse to the "phoenix.png" you found in the paragraph above :DB) Bruno Quote
longgone Posted November 10, 2004 Author Posted November 10, 2004 Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.... okayright click on the current short cut icon .... "preferences" is not to be found ... properties yes,, preferences .. no.. other icon ... browse ... and the icon I would like to use (pheonix) is not there ....HELP....... Quote
Bruno Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Sorry . . it is "preferences" . . . . . and on the dialog you get you see an icon ( the one it uses now ) if you left-click on that icon you get another dialog . . .right ??? Bruno Quote
GolfProRM Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Sorry to intrude, but if you want the "official" firefox icon, you can use this (right-click and save to download) Quote
Bruno Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Ryan . . he wants the Carlitus Noia icon for Phoenix . . . he has the icon already downloaded and is just on the point replacing the old icon with the newly downloaded one :DB) Bruno Quote
longgone Posted November 10, 2004 Author Posted November 10, 2004 click on the shortcut icon > properties > select either system icons or other icons & browse .... no pheonix in either selection ... someplace it got lost Quote
Bruno Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Right . . "other Icons" and press "browse" . . then browse to /home/dale/Noia Apps WWW/phoenix.png . . . . . . Bruno Quote
longgone Posted November 10, 2004 Author Posted November 10, 2004 OOhhhhhhhh.... my misunderstanding ... I was under the impression that after I specified that location when in "browse" it would place that icon with the "other icons" .... and I would select from there ... now I got it and it is installed (had to dbl click it(left)) to get it there but now it is there... once again Thank you ... hummmmm ...... now what is left ????????? nothing that I can think of for now .... but ... give me time ............. ebrke Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 Bruno, I used and adapted your instructions to Dale in page 2 of this thread to install java plugin for firefox. Thank you--I think! I haven't had a java plugin since I started using firefox in linux and now everything is so BUSY I'm not sure I like it. At least I can just delete my plugin link if the webpage activity starts to get to be too much. Quote
