ebrke
Did your settings at the left of the New Content screen get changed? Under "By Content Type" I've got "Forums" checked, and under "By Time Period" I have "New Since My Last Visit" checked. What I'm seeing seems to be accurate (about 6 or 7 different threads).
Capt.Crow
Just a little update .. I decided to build a bar under my new roof . There is already a WC installed and functional. I put a wood burning stove in ,had to cut and weld 5" steel pipe to get the flue up /out through the wall/and up to about 2ft over roof pitch level Someone handed me a Dell inspirion 1720 today . Haven't tried it yet as the battery is flat . and I have to look out a pwr/sup. I'm getting overloaded with PC's . If I could reclaim the gold from them I would start with the big clear-out. Cant think of anything else except that there has been a good fall of snow in Nevada.
V.T. Eric Layton
You'd need a 20,000 sq ft warehouse full of computers to extract enough gold to be worthwhile. I'm not even sure there's any gold at all in modern components these days.

amenditman
Another option for old CPU's, RAM, Mobo's, and other printed circuit boards. Remove all ports which stick up (not ram or pci sockets, the ones for USB, ethernet, onboard video and such) and ship them to Ken (HeliOS) at Reglue for recycling. They have a deal with a local electronics recycler that pays them quite well for these items. And the recycler actually does harvest all the metals for reuse. They get money for the metal cases also, but not enough to justify shipping.
Capt.Crow
It's the wee hours now and there is a good drop of 12 yr old Jameson coursing through my system . All because tonight the new bar was inaugurated. Five on stools and me as barman . Candles and a little soft music . It feels really good when something like this comes together in a mellow way. I wish I could entertain yall here as I know that we could have a very good session Good night and may the road rise before you .

Guest LilBambi
Here's to a long life and a merry one. A quick death and an easy one. A pretty girl and an honest one. A cold beer and another one!
Capt.Crow
Today a good friend of 35yrs was buried . He was 71 .He was a good man in every way. I am much more upset about this event than I thought possible. I will miss his good humour and country wisdom. But most of all I will miss seeing him on his old bicycle pedaling down the little road with a bag of grain on the handlebars, for sheep in an outlying field . With the early summer sun creating a long silhouette on the road behind him. :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck:
V.T. Eric Layton
The curse the long-lived must bear is the loss of everything and everyone they've ever loved. Longevity can be a lonely thing sometimes. I'm sorry to hear about your old friend's demise, Cap'n. We're all gonna' follow him eventually. Take heart, though. You woke up breathing that fine fall air this morning. With any luck, you'll continue to do so for many a year to come. An old favorite of mine... amenditman
Sorry for your loss Cap'n. We all have to go, but it's never pleasant for those left behind. That Emperor was a smarty, Eric. Guest LilBambi
The loss of an awesome friend is one of the hardest things to lose. My heartfelt condolences on your loss Capt.Crow. Here's to good Irish friends Never above you Never below you May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.
Capt.Crow
The first part of my life I moved around a lot . So there was no loss of close friends . Now since I have settled in a rural area for so long I Got to know all the indigenous folk around me . There have been passing's of friends before ,but none hit me as hard as this . I know that the seasons change and new growth follows decay . But the naturals are becoming "very thin on the ground" Thank you for your kindness .It does ease things a little ,even at so far a remove . Thank you all
V.T. Eric Layton
Hopefully, one day when you're gone from this place, there will be those left behind to mourn your absence and remember you fondly. That's about all we can ask for in this life, I guess... to be remembered fondly.

V.T. Eric Layton
Even if you don't have any friends or war stories to tell, an analgesic occasionally hits the spot. Don't make a habit of those lone analgesic episodes, though. That could be problematic.

Capt.Crow
I'm late on tonight .We had a good session What I like most of all is my visitors get mellow and tell all the little secrets . I never realized how much fun there is in running a private bar . The returns on the stocks far outweigh the costs . Hoping to get visitors from Japan soon . Of course all are welcome . All tabs are paid in good company and interesting conversation .

Capt.Crow
ON a sober note. Since I moved out here to the "boonies" 55 people that I have known over the last 30yrs have passed on. Today I noticed my favorite bank employee looked a bit down . Her drinking Buddie of many years . Took the midnight express. Three days ago.. Between us we have known at least five who have taken the same train since the bank collapse . There are a lot of cruel hasslers out there . Gird up your lions. V.T. Eric Layton
Cap'n... all's well as long as everyone you know keeps beating you to the grave. Reminds me of a motto that all my friends and family know I live by, "I'll bury all yall's asses."
