:D :'( :hmm: B) :hmm: :D :devil: :devil: :devil: @#!$%$@&*%$#Welllll............. here I am once again .. still in 9.0 ... seems that the valley of LInux has a road block up at this time.... (defective CDRW drives (2)) so just gonna have to wait after all.... The install gets as far as the second step (license acceptance) and there it hangs on both CDRW's. It hangs and for sure does not come free, waited for 10 mins on each one.... nothing happens ..... grrrrrr........

Well, we will have to wait for the new CD-ROM drive then . . . . glad you still have Drake 9.0 and are not completely deserted by Linux . . . B) Bruno

B) :hmm: Still have Slack 9.1 too ... it's video is somewhat slow and lazy but it is a useable OS..... .... At least I know for sure that the CDRW is bad. I guess both are bad since I only got to the same place with both of them and it hung on the same step of the install. OH well .......................

Bruno,,,,,I completely agree with that prognosis..... however the question arises....Knoppix..what is wrong with it. I cannot boot into the GUI at all, it gets part way through and I get this error message that hda9 has booted 29 times without being checked and a force check has been initiated, and the results say that it is mounted read only. The portion that just totally amazes me is that Knoppix is on hda8, so what is it doing messing around with hda9 the home of SuSE .... can this problem be fixed easily or is this going to be a battle too.... Oh ... the problems I can generate :huh: :devil: :lol:

;) :ermm: :ermm: Humm...... darn .. don't have Drake 9.2 installed anywhere anymore. It was on the nr. 1 machine which is down at the moment. Still don't know why I can't get Knoppix to go all the way through..... Maybe I should try a re-install there tooo...... :o :o :)

:) ;) At the moment the Lilo I am using is for Drake 9.0 but all it has on it is Drake 9.0 and XP.... it does not contain either Slack, SuSE or Knoppix.....

That is why I thought adding a few of those to the 9.0 lilo . . . . . how about it ? Are you in for a little tweak ?:) Bruno

Nice one DaleNow we will edit the lilo.conf:

# umount  /mnt/hda10# kwrite /etc/lilo.conf

Then add these lines:

image=/boot/knoppix/vmlinuz-2.4.26        label="Knoppix-24"        root=/dev/hda9        initrd=/boot/knoppix/initrd.img-2.4.26      vga=788      read-only  image=/boot/knoppix/vmlinuz-2.6.6        label="Knoppix-26"        root=/dev/hda9        initrd=/boot/knoppix/initrd.img-2.6.6      vga=788      read-onlyimage=/boot/slack/vmlinuz-ide-2.4.22        label="Slackware"        root=/dev/hda8        append="hdc=ide-scsi"        vga=791        read-onlyimage=/boot/suse/vmlinuz-2.6.4-52-default        label="SUSE"        initrd=/boot/suse/initrd-2.6.4-52-default        optional        root=/dev/hda10        vga=0x317        append="splash=silent desktop resume=/dev/hda5 showopts"
Then show me
# cat /etc/lilo.conf

This looks pretty strange Dale . . . . . . there is no entry for Drake 9.0 . . . . How come ?? Also the first part is missing . . . . we will have to add a few more lines . . . How were you booting Drake 9.0 ???:whistling: Bruno

:hmm: :ermm: :whistling: UUmmmm..... well... it was booting up just fine into the Drake 9.0 Enterprise selection.... the rest is gone, would not mind having it back but it still works... only difference I have encountered is that in the "linux" option in the lilo menu when you shut down it will power the machine off where as in the Enterprise option it does not, you have to shut it down manually.....
