longgone
:'( @#!$%$@&*%$#Welllll............. here I am once again .. still in 9.0 ... seems that the valley of LInux has a road block up at this time.... (defective CDRW drives (2)) so just gonna have to wait after all.... The install gets as far as the second step (license acceptance) and there it hangs on both CDRW's. It hangs and for sure does not come free, waited for 10 mins on each one.... nothing happens ..... grrrrrr........
Bruno
Well, we will have to wait for the new CD-ROM drive then . . . . glad you still have Drake 9.0 and are not completely deserted by Linux . . . Bruno
longgone
Still have Slack 9.1 too ... it's video is somewhat slow and lazy but it is a useable OS..... .... At least I know for sure that the CDRW is bad. I guess both are bad since I only got to the same place with both of them and it hung on the same step of the install. OH well ....................... Bruno
This was quiet an adventure we had Dale . . . . you deserve a rest till the new drive comes !! :PB) Bruno
longgone
Bruno,,,,,I completely agree with that prognosis..... however the question arises....Knoppix..what is wrong with it. I cannot boot into the GUI at all, it gets part way through and I get this error message that hda9 has booted 29 times without being checked and a force check has been initiated, and the results say that it is mounted read only. The portion that just totally amazes me is that Knoppix is on hda8, so what is it doing messing around with hda9 the home of SuSE .... can this problem be fixed easily or is this going to be a battle too.... Oh ... the problems I can generate
Bruno
Wel will have a look into this . . . . . this evening. BTW, what are you using to boot Knoppix ? Bruno
longgone
I am using the boot floppy I made during the install.
longgone
Disregard my post about Knoppix and hda9...... I was counting on the wrong foot.... opppssss....
Bruno
???? . . . . And I was thinking of adding it to the lilo menu of Drake 9.2 . . . Bruno
longgone
Humm...... darn .. don't have Drake 9.2 installed anywhere anymore. It was on the nr. 1 machine which is down at the moment. Still don't know why I can't get Knoppix to go all the way through..... Maybe I should try a re-install there tooo......
Bruno
Sorry, was it 9.1 or 9.0 then where you are using Lilo from on that system ?? Bruno
longgone
At the moment the Lilo I am using is for Drake 9.0 but all it has on it is Drake 9.0 and XP.... it does not contain either Slack, SuSE or Knoppix.....
Bruno
That is why I thought adding a few of those to the 9.0 lilo . . . . . how about it ? Are you in for a little tweak ? Bruno
longgone
Welll..... why not.... course that does not mean that Knoppix is going to act right,, but at least I won't have to stick the floppy in all the time.

Bruno
This looks pretty strange Dale . . . . . . there is no entry for Drake 9.0 . . . . How come ?? Also the first part is missing . . . . we will have to add a few more lines . . . How were you booting Drake 9.0 ??? Bruno
longgone
UUmmmm..... well... it was booting up just fine into the Drake 9.0 Enterprise selection.... the rest is gone, would not mind having it back but it still works... only difference I have encountered is that in the "linux" option in the lilo menu when you shut down it will power the machine off where as in the Enterprise option it does not, you have to shut it down manually.....
