Hmm......From what I am seeing, alsa (the sound system) is being started and is giving no errors, so this may be a KDE issue.Let's try this:

 lcoate *.mp3

to display any MP3's on the system. then we will play one using the mpg123 program:

 mpg123 /full/path/to/file

Note: You will need to specify a file. Copy/paste one file from the previous command output. If you hear nothing, and you get no errors, then open another command line, and type alsamixer, and make sure PCM and Master are not muted.

I mean we decided to go for PCLos because you wanted to play online games that required Java . . 2). Windows:I saw that in your /etc/lilo.conf the entry for Windows was not complete. So I first want to fix that and see if Windows still does not boot !!!If Windows still refuses after that you can reinstall it ( we have a working boot-CD for PCLos now ) Windows will over-write the MBR, that is no problem because we will use the boot-CD to boot PCLos and restore the Lilo to the MBR so you can boot both PClos and Windows from Lilo.3). CD burning:I did read that K3b refused to burn the CD. Sure on the commandline with "cdrecord is better and quicker, but we can fix K3b . . command as root:

# chmod -s /usr/bin/cdrecord

( K3b is the frontend for cdrecord )4). Extra Software:PCLos is a very stable OS. If you want to keep it that way you should add software using "synaptic" ( Menu --> Configuration --> Packaging --> Synaptic Software Manager ) ( not kpackage ) Synaptic has a ton of extra software for you and does the updating too.Updates are always posted in This thread, AFTER I tested them on my test-system ( if there are issues I will post how to get around them ) So, subscribe to that thread so you get a warning when something is posted. Do never post in that thread because it is purely to announce updates I tested for you.
