abarbarian Posted March 21 Author Posted March 21 (edited) I gave Garuda linux a try out, ran the live version from my Ventoy usb. Once loaded it ran smoothly and I came across no problems. I found the initial loading options to be a tad peculiar. There was one option to load with Nvidia drivers but not one for AMD. I could see no way to load with any other option than the USA keyboard/language one. It was certainly a different experience. The Plasma offered was pretty with the wobbly windows etc but I was not a fan of the darkish look.Programs opened quickly and there was quite a selection. The pacman frontend gui Octopi was the first time I had used it and I found it pleasant to use, useful for new users new to linux. I did an update with it and a search for some programs. The Gaming section contained just about every gaming oriented linux program ever invented, some installed with links to the rest, most impressive. If you are a gamer then Garuda makes linux gaming easy peasy. I liked the choice of the Fish shell, Micro for text and Octopi for package management. Would I use Garuda ? Probably not as it overwhelms me with too many new programs to figure out and I find Plasma has way too many customisation options and along with all the KDE programs it would take me forever to figure out what they all do. So it is not for me. A person with a more modern outlook I feel would find Garuda a good choice if they were in to gaming on linux for the first time. https://garudalinux.org/ I Just Reinstalled Garuda Linux, and These 3 Things Surprised Me Garuda Linux Might Be the Best Looking Desktop OS on the Market Edited March 21 by abarbarian 1 Quote

Those window decorations are interesting. Based on some of my readings lately, regarding WMs and Wayland, it looks like maybe Garuda uses the Hyprland WM in a Wayland session? Quote
