ross549
hmm... this would seem to indicate some kind of problem with your MBR.I am not sure where to go from here...... but once you can fix that problem, you should have a bootable SuSE. teacher
What is plugged into your computer - a printer by chance, a camera cable, a zip drive, scanner, anything at all? A usb cable without anything hooked up to it? Look in back and make sure there is not a cord you have forgotten!
ross549
Colin... just to make sure: # cat /var/log/messages | grep usb You may not have any USB devices at all, but that doesn't stop the system from thinking so.... something might be up here. teacher
You might try hooking the keyboard/mouse up directly to see if that fixes it. Then you can go back to your KVM switch.

ross549
Colin, I must apologize. I almost completely forgot I had a meeting this evening. I shoud be back in a few hours, if you are willing to wait until then. I think I may be onto something here.
teacher
Right, try just for running lilo to move the keyboard and monitor over. Then move it back afterwards. Since your error is usually tied into an external device that is the only thing I can think of. It does not hurt to try.

teacher
ColinThat did not change anything. The only thing I can see to do now is to confert it to Grub and then after that works, boot back in and convert back to lilo.

teacher
JuliaAre you saying to INSTALL Suse 9.3 AGAIN THIS time Install Grub instead of Lilo and Put it in MBR or hda8Colin<{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, no, no. Repeat after me - "My Suse install is fine."The problem is the PCLos lilo. The cure could be to go into your PCLos Control Center and then to your boot program and change PCLos to Grub.Once that works, we would repeat the procedure and change it back to Lilo. :'(

teacher
Did you click on the lilo and edit? I thought I remembered a choice there. I am not in PCLos at the moment. If not, then I don't know a cure off hand.
