raymac46
Here is my VBox install of MX-19 with the Fluxbox desktop. All I've done here is change the background. The desktop icons can be hidden if you want, or you can add more easily enough.

raymac46
I've updated my Windows 10 VirtualBox installation. Got rid of Mageia (it failed to update properly) and MX-Linux (I have it on the rails on a couple of machines.) Now I'm experimenting with Debian LXQt. Here's how it looks:

securitybreach
Rebuild? What is that? I keep all my configs on github and backed up locally. I can easily recreate the installation in like 10 minutes. Download the packages and drop in the configs, done.. 1

Well first of all you have to try out tons of obscure programs over an extended period of time. Experiment with hundreds of esoterik tweaks and customisations without really knowing what you are doing. Attempt a fair few successful rescues when you have fiddled to much and finally throw in the towel when a rescue is not even remotely possible. Usually a good thing as by then your os is so bogged down with left over crud from lousy uninstallers and forgotten changed config files that it hardly functions. This is my icewm set up I am using on my fresh Arch install until I can figure out how to install Window Maker
