V.T. Eric Layton
You can make Xfce and Gnome and other non-KDE desktops look pretty spiffy. It just takes a bit of effort and imagination. Here's my current Slack 13-64 w/ Xfce:...and the matching theme:

V.T. Eric Layton
Cool, but a little busy for my tastes. What's that weird thing in the upper right hand corner? Ahh... that stupid KDE4 thingie.
securitybreach
Cool looking wallpaper but I do not think I could look at it for more than 30 seconds without getting a headache. I am starting to freak out by staring at it now. Reminds me of Hypnotoad:(Futurama reference for those who dont know)Thanks Edited November 19, 2009 by securitybreach

securitybreach
I submitted one but I do not think I stand a chance compared to the ones here every month: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=83682 There are some really amazing screenshots of which I get alot of my ideals/configurations hints from. Also, there will only be 5 winners so I think I will get better odds by just buying the calendar for $12.95.Thanks Edited November 21, 2009 by securitybreach
cybormoron
hey no fair. i cry foul. i could'a won with an old shot. this was me 3 years ago. http://www.imagebam.com/image/7da6a257293076the winners are here.http://www.linuxjournal.com/content/cooles...shot-wins-prize Edited November 24, 2009 by cybormoron
securitybreach
Cybormoron: Looks goodAs far as the winners, I was not very impressed. A couple were somewhat impressive but not even closs to the artwork I have seen in the monthly threads at: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewforum.php?id=47 I know, I know, I frequently suggest Arch-related sites but I have to say there are some unbelievable desktop shots there. Either one of these could of easily beat the winners:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2489136/screenie-14.10.09-2.png For the kids out there, WARNING the song title in the screenshot has a curse word...... http://www.imagebam.com/image/fcf0cb57296250/Just my opinion. Thanks Edited November 24, 2009 by securitybreach
V.T. Eric Layton
You mean I didn't win? They have no sense of humor. They did post mine on the Flikr pool site:http://www.flickr.com/photos/linuxjournal/...ol-linuxjournal
securitybreach
Well I did not bother to enter since I do not use my yahoo account except for messenger. With the looks of the winners, we could of easily won. Thanks
V.T. Eric Layton
I didn't post mine on the Flikr site directly. I just emailed it to them and they posted it. There are some good-looking screenshots on the Flikr site. That's for sure. I didn't really expect to win. I just figured someone would get a laugh out of that wallpaper. I always giggle when I look at it.

Since it's got that white background, rather than scale it and distort it, you can just pasted the entire 1440x900 wallpaper onto a white background of the proper size that you make using GIMP or whatever.Have fun!
