LOL . . . . . Okay here are the commands: ( show me what you see in the terminal as you go )

$ su# mkdir /mnt/hda6# mount /dev/hda6 /mnt/hda6# cp -r /mnt/hda6/boot  /boot/drake92# ls -al /boot/drake92# cat /mnt/hda6/etc/lilo.conf

( Better copy and paste the commands so you will not make "typos" :thumbsdown: ):thumbsup: Bruno

Well so far I have gotten to this line:# ls -al /boot/drake92However, when I try to take a OpenOffice file from 10.1 to the internet compter the file ends up having zero data when it has 5.6 kb on Mandrake 10.1

Cool !!!We have all we need . . . now here is the part you can add to /etc/lilo.conf of Drake 10.1So open the file as root:

# kwrite /etc/lilo.conf

And add this:

image=/boot/drake92/vmlinuz-2.4.22-10mdk label="Drake92" root=/dev/hda6 initrd=/boot/drake92/initrd-2.4.22-10mdk.img append="devfs=mount hdd=ide-scsi acpi=ht resume=/dev/hda7 splash=silent" vga=788 read-only
Please check 3 times for typos . . . . . :thumbsdown: . . . and if possible show me when you are done:
# cat /etc/lilo.conf

:thumbsup: Bruno

You mean do this:$ su$ password# kwrite /etc/lilo.conf Then add these lines to whatever opens?:image=/boot/drake92/vmlinuz-2.4.22-10mdk label="Drake92" root=/dev/hda6 initrd=/boot/drake92/initrd-2.4.22-10mdk.img append="devfs=mount hdd=ide-scsi acpi=ht resume=/dev/hda7 splash=silent" vga=788 read-only

Yep . . that is what I mean . . just add it at the bottom and for clarity give one white line so you see the difference between what was there and what you added :thumbsdown: . . . because we will later add SUSE and Windows there too.:thumbsup: Bruno

That looks good Sham !!But I want to finetune this a bit . . . . .

# kwrite /etc/lilo.conf

Make these changes . . . . the RED ones so we do not see "linux" but "mandrake" . . . and the BLUE part can be deleted . . . but be carefull to ONLY delete the blue lines !!This is only the beginning lines of the file:

default="Mandrake-101"boot=/dev/hdamap=/boot/mapkeytable=/boot/us.kltpromptnowarntimeout=100message=/boot/messagemenu-scheme=wb:bw:wb:bwimage=/boot/vmlinuz label="Mandrake-101" root=/dev/hda1 initrd=/boot/initrd.img append="acpi=ht resume=/dev/hda7 splash=silent" vga=788 read-onlyimage=/boot/vmlinuz label="linux-nonfb" root=/dev/hda1 initrd=/boot/initrd.img append="acpi=ht resume=/dev/hda7" read-only
Then show me again
# cat /etc/lilo.conf

so I can checkB) Bruno

Looks good !!Now we write the new lilo to the MBR again:

# /sbin/lilo

And if that gives no errors we are ready to test the entries in lilo by rebooting to 9.2 ;):"> Bruno

Okay back to Shamgar's salt mine. Will your ATL and Suse fit on the last partition - 10 gig

They will if you divide them up in a 4 GB and a 6 GB partition . . . the 6 GB for SUSE and that one on the last position ;)You can use any Drake you have to resize it . . and because it are the last partitions the numbering for the already installed ones will not change ;):blink: Bruno

Oops! Back to the original plan. The actual space left is only 6.8 gig on hda9 with a journalized reiser fs. Now to decide to allow Suse to be here or the ATL? Suse is annoying with the YAST but I think I should keep it. After all your ATL can be hooked live here anytime. :thumbsup:
