The area does not have snow plows or anything else to deal with the snow. It's finally melted but most roads and the interstates were closed for three days. 1 1 Quote

crp Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I can't stop thinking about people who first ate mushrooms: this one tastes like beef, this one killed Kevin instantly, this one made me see angels for three weeks. 2 1 1 Quote

I just think it is hilarious that it has taken almost 130 years for them to experience more than four inches of snow. Up in Cumbria we had more than four inches of snow almost every year. down here in SW Wales I have seen in the last six years snowflakes twice and once they landed and stayed on the ground for at least several hours. Well we are at the bottom of the map and close to the equator. If we did get snow frequently, there would be something bad happening to the planet as New Orleans is tropical. 1 Quote
securitybreach Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Our winters yearly only get down to the 40s Fahrenheit and normally last about two weeks. 1 Quote
xrobwx71 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Same in Panama City Beach. The last time we had snow was 1989. I live 3/4'' mile from the Gulf and we got 7'' at the beach. 1 1 Quote

securitybreach Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I was using serial ports too. My first machine was a Tandy 1000 back in 1984 but I had previously used a vic-20. Granted I am only 46. 1 Quote

Granted I am only 46. My first computer was a Z80 based kit with 2k RAM and 8k eprom where I had to solder all of the sockets and parts to the bare MB. Used a regular cassette recorder to store stuff at 300 baud. It included a 2" X 12" "breadboard" area for constructing your own peripherals such as PIO and SIO. I/O consisted of a 20 key keypad and 8 7segment leds. Edited February 1 by Bookmem 1 Quote
