Actually, I could handle that one. Secret is to start knocking off little shallow

flat "C" shaped pieces going around the periphery. I've seen the pros, with

some real muscle, do this effortlessly. I think even in my early 70's I could

pull it off. Unless- it is a requirement to actually pull them out.

That ain't gonna happen... Wood rounds love to eat wedges. You gotta

outsmart them...

 

He just wants his Fiskars back, BTW. Those are some good but expensive

splitting axes. That round is nasty- all the knots you can see sticking out

are going to impede splitting. Fire up the hydraulic splitter for this one...

 

I only own a little electric splitter. My plan of attack- chainsaw notches

around the periphery, set wedges, and whale away with a 10lb sledge.

One of them is eventually going to give. Gets a lot easier after the first split.
