securitybreach Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 Quote They listened and listened until the beeps and boops finally made sense. And then it was time to go. A husband and wife briefly escaped from a secure memory unit at an assisted living facility in Lebanon last month by using military experience with Morse code to decipher and memorize the code to an electronic door lock, according to Tennessee Department of Health documents obtained through a public records request. The couple, who have dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, are not identified in the state records. They went missing from Elmcroft of Lebanon for about 30 minutes on March 2 before a stranger found them walking down a road two blocks from the facility, according to the documents.......... https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/health/2021/04/30/couple-escapes-assisted-living-facility-military-morse-code-training/7166012002/ 1 1 Quote

Thanks, Josh. I am good with the Morse code, can picture myself doing what the old guy did. But I think this was more like two tones together- like a telephone keypad makes. So perhaps this also drew on native musical ability in the guy, remembering pitches and such... This is called "DTMF" (dual tone multi-frequency). Yeah, a little Morse like, though... BTW I am wondering- was it the pajamas that gave the couple away? Clutter Edited March 25, 2022 by Cluttermagnet 1 Quote

zlim Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 Sad but true, I see people in stores shopping wearing pajamas and slippers who haven't escaped from assisted living. I know dress has gotten more casual but what I see people wearing in public at times, looks like they confused attire for shopping online with shopping in public. 1 Quote
colin.p Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 (edited) Whatever you do - DO NOT - search on youtube for Friday night Wally-mart shoppers. It's a sight that will be permanently burned into your memory... Edited March 28, 2022 by colin.p 2 Quote
