bob3160
My wife suffers from an inherited non alcohol related liver disease. The GOOD NEWS:Alice (my wife) is now #4 on the Transplant list.By Thursday of this week we'll be leaving for Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. We will remain there for 3 month after the transplant itself has taken place.More information at the following website:http://home.comcast.net/~bob03160/HelpAlice.htmlThe bad news:The place where we'll be staying, ( Twice Blessed House ) has no internet access facilities.Since I don't have a laptop, at this point, I still haven't figured out how or if I'll be able to do anything online while we're away.We are currently waiting for Alice to receive one more infusion of albumin atour local hospital. They unfortunately ran out last week.Once that procedure is done, we'll leave home for the 13 hr car trip to Dallas.

Debora
You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.... and I too understand the no internet issue. I headed to Florida last september for an adoption, stayed in the adoption agency's furnished apartment, only to find no phone, no cable and NO internet. Their office was in the lower floor, and being the geek that I am, convinced them to wire me into their router for the short stay that I'd be there ( a week)! they were amazed and I was relieved!!!!!!Best of luck to you on your journey...... bob3160
Thanks to all of you who replied to my "Please Help Alice" appeal. At a time like this, all of the well wishes and prayers are greatly appreciated and mean more then you'llprobably ever know.A sincere thanks also to any one who was able to help financially.I again urge all of you to become organ donors.I promise it's painless and easy to do and could help so manywho can no longer help themselves. If this helps to save just one life, then I'll have no regrets for having made this appeal.Bob

bob3160
Sitting in a motel all day isn't very exciting.Waiting for one phone call is even worse.I was never known for my patience but am sure learning to develop some.I guess I have no choice.Alice sleeps most of the time. Occasionally she'll open her eyes to watch a little TV.Recipes greatly accepted. We have a stove, Microwave but no oven.Eating out would be nice but price wise quite prohibitive. bob3160
Right now we are sitting in a room at Baylor Medical Center, Dallas. We received a call a few hrs ago. Alice right now is the back-up for the person scheduled to receive a transplant. If there are medical or other reasons why that person can not receive receive this liver, it will go to Alice. This is another one of those times where God is deciding what will happen next.Alice is calmly watching TV. :)I'm making and correcting many typing errors.Even if it doesn't happen today, at least she'll be able to get the dressing on her new Picc Line changed. If you believe in prayer, this might be a good time to pray for who everthe liver recipent will be.

zlim
Has she moved up on the list from #4? Is seems like she should have moved up a notch or two in all this time waiting. My husband is well aware should anything happen to me, harvest my organs and give them to those that wait patiently and cremate whatever is left.My Mom's eyesight is poor...I just wish they could transplant eyes. bob3160
A further update:Since this is life, we can't always expect things to go exactly as planned. We've been informed that Alices transplant has been resceduled to7 Am tomorrow morning.I guess since this is Easter Sunday, there was probably a delay in obtaining the organs. This is going to be a long night but we'll have company in a few hours. My youngest daughter is flying in from Albuquerque.
