V.T. Eric Layton
Hey, Ray... Here are those pics you were interested in... GigaByte GA-890FXA-UD5 mobo w/ Cool IT Systems cpu cooler The whole shebang that I got from my pal, Mike The cooler block itself The NZXT. Sentry LX fan controller doo-hickey (not sure yet if I'm going to use this or not)... Here's what it looks like when it's working... I'll be putting this altogether in a nice BIG ATX server case along with one WD Blue 500G Sata 3 (primary OS drive), one Maxtor-Basics 500G Sata 2 (rsync backup drive), two WD Blue 320G Sata 3 drives (storage), one I/O Magic Lightscribe DVD Dual Layer burner, and about 12G-16G RAM. I have all the above to put this system together without spending any $$$. If I had some $$$, I would go with solid state drives, but hey... you do what you can with what you got. Right? I'll be putting this one together sometime during the fall or winter; once it cools off out in my shop. So, there you have it...
V.T. Eric Layton
Oh, and an unrelated bonus... I helped a friend of mine with some Internet connectivity issues he was having a while back. I traded him a spare Verizon FIOS router that I had for a new, never used Fluke 77 DVM. I got the better of this deal. My friend had no use for the DVM. He doesn't even know how to use one.

V.T. Eric Layton
I already had one, but the price was right on this one.
sunrat
Lots of geeky fun there, and at the right price! Mobo looks flash with all those shiny bits, like my old one except it's Intel. My new one looks very plain and boring in comparison. I've had good experiences with Gigabyte mobos.
V.T. Eric Layton
Yeah, I've had good luck with GigaByte, also; with one exception -- the board that was originally my ericsbane05 and is now ericsshop02-wifi had a PCI-e socket go bad on me, causing me to not be able to use a separate vid card on that system. Sadly, onboard graphics were not up-to-par for me to play my games and such, resulting in a visit to the foggy graveyard in the wee hours digging for parts to build my current Frankenputer (ericsbane06). Guest LilBambi
As far as the Fluke goes, awesome score there. And redundancy can be a very good thing. Awesome system even without the SS drives. Can always trade out the drives for SS drive prices come down further for larger ones and/or you have the money to invest in them. Great fun and great benefit once the weather cools and can spend some time in your very cool shop.

V.T. Eric Layton
Wow! With that I can manage 16Gig. That would be COOL! Unfortunately, I wouldn't feel right taking that from you for free, Erik, and I don't have the $$$ to pay you for it either. Myeh... I'll get by with 12Gig, I s'pose. Oh, and thank you for the offer.

Postage would not be too much an you can buy me a few beers if I ever make it to the states, though that plan has gone slightly awry at the moment. So if you want it you can have it.
V.T. Eric Layton
I wonder what it would cost to ship it? If you have a PayPal account, I can send you the postal cost that way. You're on for that visit to the pub one of these days. I would LOVE that!

Capt.Crow
Now wouldn't that be neat. You'd have to come along too. We would really need a third hand for a sensible watch rotation . It's a very long way to Florida. Or we could ship the boat to Cuba and then sail across That way we could just about get by with just a crew of two
V.T. Eric Layton
I don't do boats/ships. Actually, I don't like to fly either, but in a case like this, I'd deal with it. All this is going to take is $$$. Once I hit that BIG lottery jackpot, we'll get it together.

V.T. Eric Layton
Oh, and short on semolians this month (as always). If you can hold onto that RAM, I'll try to scrounge up a few bucks for shipping to send to you sometime in the next few weeks. DO NOT ship before I send you the money!
