I'm interested in learning more about this rEFInd. The only thing I know....or I THINK I know....is that it seems to be a standalone program that is an "umbrella" bootloader, preventing OSes from over-writing each others' bootloaders and "losing" partitiitons or entire OSes because their bootloader was overwritten.
