Jeber Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 I'm curious, does anyone know of a good reference for which distros work with which standards, especially PCMCIA wireless cards? I see several 802.11b, Linux compatible cards, but no 802.11g. I'm just wondering if any drivers are available for any of the common brands of 802.11g cards yet. Quote
Bruno Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 Hi JeberI did find a page that talks about drivers for - 802.11b+, 802.11a and 802.11ghttp://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Jean_Tourri...s.802.11ag.htmlHope that is what you are looking for . . . ;)And, if it still ain't workin' . . . . . have a look here: Win-Drivers for Wlan Cards Bruno Quote
teacher Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 JeberAs I sit here and type this with my wireless connection I found this list be the best resource for researching cards: http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/ListIt gives a very thorough list. I printed it all out adn took it with me when I went shopping! I must admit though that I am using a 802.11B USB card at the moment in Linux. I am hoping that when IK get my powerpack there will be a driver that works with what is built into my laptop and then I can switch this USB card to another computer. Quote
deadfly Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 What chip is in your laptop? To add some remarks for Mr. Jeber...To date prism chipset adapters have generally been well supported.http://www.seattlewireless.net/index.cgi/C...ers_2f802_2e11ghttp://prism54.org/http://madwifiwiki.thewebhost.de/wiki/FrontPage <-- Atheros chip Quote
martinultima Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Yeah, I second the nomination for NdisWrapper's site as the best I have both my main systems (desktop and laptop) running Slackware 10.0 with wireless, and it works perfectly, even with my laptop's USB adapter! [NOTE: Slack takes a bit of hacking to get wireless working, but it works so much better than anything else...] Quote
