I have a wireless mouse that will not work with a pc. I have tried it on Windows 11, MX linux and Arch.

In Arch lsusb shows it as,

Bus 005 Device 003: ID 04d9:2517 Holtek Semiconductor, Inc.

Here is a detailed look at the specs,

The mouse has a new battery and the sensor lights up and as it shows in lsusb I guess it is functioning but unable to fully work on a pc. Searching the net has not produced any useful solutions so far.

Can anyone shine a light on my problem ? 🤔

Does it have a pairing button on it? Just because the dongle is usb, you still have to pair the device on some mice. If you have tried it on multiple OSs, then it is not driver related. It's either not paired or its a faulty mouse.

Power Cycle: Turn off the mouse (if it has a power switch) and then turn it back

Reset Button: Some mice have a small reset button on the bottom, try pressing it.

Pairing Mode: Some wireless mice require you to enter pairing mode to reconnect with the receiver, check the documentation for your specific model

Ha it has a very small button that I did not see. Pressing and holding it down does cause the sensor to flash but the mouse will still not function. I'll give it a try on the laptop but I recon it is furbar. That was probably why it was hiding in a drawer gathering dust. 😅
