Well after 17 years I'll be replacing my Venerable 2008 Jeep Compass tomorrow. I'll get a 2022 model to take its place. Probably this will be my final Jeep given my age and health.

While I've owned this Compass the Jeep brand has been owned by Daimler-Chrysler, Cerberus Capital, Fiat-Chrysler, and now Stellantis.

My 2008 Jeep was made in the Belvidere plant in Illinois and the 2022 was made in Mexico. With all the talk of tariffs and onshoring who knows what will happen next.

The only reason I stick with Jeep through thick and thin is that my local Chrysler dealer has the most honest, professional and friendly service department I have ever dealt with. I have been a happy customer for over 20 years.

The dealership is family-owned and the family patriarch was a mechanic, then a service manager at the location before buying the franchise. He knew all too well that you see a salesperson for one day but you have a long-term relationship with the service department.

We will probably be replacing our 2005 Jeep Cherokee this coming year. At our age, we look at the dealers closest to our home because of service. That limits us to either a Jeep or a Chevy. We aren't thrilled with the current owner of our Jeep franchise. He bought out another Chrysler dealership and the place where I bought my PT Cruiser, no longer sells Chrysler.

My sister has a Buick CUV and likes it very much.

Picked up my 2022 today and the dealer treated me well. I got new brakes and a brand new set of Nokian Remedy all weather tires. Since we don't go out in knee deep snow any longer we won't need to switch tires in the spring and fall. All weather will be perfect for us. Besides we'll have 4 wheel drive if needed.

The new Jeep is smooth and powerful. The main tasks I had were getting the satellite radio working and pairing up my Android smartphone to the infotainment system.

There's a world of difference between 2008 and 2022 when it comes to Technology. I got a fresh trial of SiriusXM satellite radio but I had to phone them to get it refreshed and working. Then I rebooted the infotainment system to get it working properly.

Finally I had to pair up the car radio system with my smartphone. When I tried to start the pairing on the car radio, it wanted to connect to my smart TV in the family room. I then did the Bluetooth pairing from my Android phone, and it worked seamlessly. Pro tip: start from your smartphone.

Since my husband mainly drives the Jeep and doesn't own a smartphone, no paring will be done. Hopefully he can just listen to the radio the way he does now.

Unfortunately, the Buick dealership is not close to where we live and I'm not subjecting him to driving in grid lock for the yearly inspection.

The Chevrolet Trax is similar to my sister's Buick Encore.

Thanks; at least I'll know a model to look for. Forget that. Apparently they've dropped 4 wheel drive. Jeff absolutely wants that because of the hill we live on.

Well I guess Chevy Equinox AWD would be another option. My late BIL and sister had one of them a few years ago and it was a pretty good car. That one my sister traded in on the Buick which is smaller. Have to admit I am no expert on GM.
