Thunderbird on Android

So i have been using K9Mail for years on android because I do not use gmail and the email accounts I have do not have apps. Anyway, a couple of months ago I seen that Thunderbird came out on Android in beta and I tested it for a few months without any issues. I never knew that Mozilla developed K9 until i seen an article talking about how they used the K9 base to develop thunderbird. Anyway, now it is stable on Android and works beautifully. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.thunderbird.android

 

If your email provides pgp encryption, it also works as long as you have the OpenKeyChain installed

it basically feels the same but has encryption and such. Seems to have a lot of other features.

My thinking is that Thunderbird is replacing K9 with an updated look and features. Eventually K9 will go away as they joined the project, that's usually how it goes. Luckily both are open source and foss.
