Bookmem Posted August 17 Posted August 17 I'm an 85 yr old widower living alone so I have no idea how smartphone family plans work but I'm curious. I know co.s advertise multi-line plans with "unlimited calls, text and data", but that in reality they throttle data speed after a set amount. My question is do the parents get to control how much of that data the kids can use? Or can one kid go through the entire amount leaving every one else to deal with the slow speed? Quote
securitybreach Posted August 17 Posted August 17 On apple and android, there are plenty of parental control apps and now they both have built in controls as well. Quote

Yes, I know there are parental controls that control CONTENT. But can a parent set a data limit? Billy gets 10 gb and Sarah, because she's older, get 12gb. The article you linked doesn't tell me that. Quote
securitybreach Posted August 17 Posted August 17 YOu can get the data limit on android and apple in the settings. Quote

The user can change that setting. It is only a warning and not a strict limit. Quote

securitybreach Posted August 17 Posted August 17 The first android link I listed shows you how to lock off settings from a child. Quote

I scrolled through the article and didn't see that but I'll take your word for. I was just curios to know if it could be done. I don't have a family plan so I don't really need the details. Thanks for the answer. Quote
