raymac46
I had trouble with a recent Windows 11 update. It would fail to install, and kept nagging me to try try again. Apparently this was a security update, not some sort of quality thing so I couldn't pause the Windows Update process until Microsoft sorted it out. It was on an AMD laptop; an Intel based desktop I have installed it no problem. I got around the issue by downloading and installing it manually from the Microsoft archives. That's all very well, but how many users out there are as geeky as I am? This is a long way from a CloudStrike incident but it's just another reminder that SAAS often can get you into trouble.
crp
For servers I often go to the Microsoft Security Catalog site to retrieve updates.
raymac46
Another update (KB5040527) failed to install on my recalcitrant ASUS Vivobook. I got it installed manually after running the Windows Update Troubleshooter. I have switched off the early adopter option for updates. I'm not one to complain unduly about Windows but lately keeping it up to date on this laptop is way more annoying than any Linux installation I have.
