wa4chq Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 I saw this last night while prepping for Christmas. I was watching Sea Disasters on TV. There was a scene just seconds before all hell broke loose, where someone noticed the onboard systems were failing. The camera cuts over to a monitor using a tiling window manager running htop, xmatrix screensaver and something else. Just looking at it, I could tell disaster was looming ahead. My first reaction was "Cool, they're using Linux!" but after a little morning research I realize that it's possible it could be something else. 2 Quote
securitybreach Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 I don't know why they always want to show htop and xmatrix. Also, I've seen ping and trace route. I guess text in a terminal looks hacker-ish to them. 1 Quote

I think it's because using htop and xmatrix together looks very scary....I mean, you should have seen their faces on that show when they noticed it! I think the icing on the cake would have been if they'd included xeyes! 2 Quote
securitybreach Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 It's silly to a linux user when they talk about hackers and show "htop". Rofl 1 Quote
