Back in the late 70s I worked in the product development lab for Standard Brands in Montreal. We had a nice young man named Scott Nelson who was a coop student from the University of Waterloo.

Recently I reconnected with Scott through a mutual Facebook friend. After he got a PhD in biology from the University of Illinois he moved to Iowa City IA and did a couple post-docs at the University of Iowa.

In the late 1990s Scott set up an independent Apple consultancy and has done quite well thanks to the university, the medical center and numerous graphic design firms and other Mac/iPad/iPhone users in the area.

I though most Mac service and support was done through Apple stores but Scott's business seems to be quite a viable one. He's had a nice life.

Take a look at his website. It is quite interesting.
