I thought I would stop in and say Hello. It's been awhile. I just turned 84 years old in November. I'm still using Linux Mint as my Primary Distro and sad to say I will no longer use Siduction as my secondary because of their policy of not upgrading the cinnamon edition. I am now using Unofficial Debiat Cinnimon Edition and LXQT. I tried Endevoir and Manjaro, but they just don't cut it for me. I use to use Lubuntu and may try it again. I prefer a Debian type distro. BTW I built my primary machine 14 years ago and it is still running strong. Anyway I just wanted to say Hello!

Hi Eric

Do you still have the Cabin in the woods? I lost the URL.

Sure. The Cabin is still up and runnin'... been 18 years, 2 months, and 13 days so far. It's not very active, though. Only myself and a couple other old members still visit there daily. Stop on by -> https://ourboard2004.proboards.com/ . I hope you remember your login credentials, if not, click the "forgot password" link over there and it should email it to you... assuming you still have/know the email address you first signed with over there. ;)

Hey Mel, nice to see you around. Nice to hear that you are well :)

Hi there Mel, glad to hear you are doing well.

As far as Lubuntu is concerned I am running it on an 8-year-old AMD based laptop. It has a quite pretty LXQt desktop, but it does use snap packages a fair bit. Some users don't like that.

Another possibility for LXQt is Spiral Linux which is based on Debian. The stable version uses Debian Bullseye so it is pretty solid. A couple of us have tried it and we think it's pretty good.

@Eric the Cabin is pretty well locked down. No guest access and impossible to register.

Welcome back Mel. I'm glad to hear your aging computer is still working fine.

That's correct. I "privatized" my Cabin quite a few years back. It was originally a "public" forum. For those, like Mel above, who are already members, though, access just requires logging in.

For others interested in getting into my Cabin, just PM or email me with the email address that you would want to use for membership and I'll send you back an invitation link that will allow you to set up an account there.
