I note states the ransomware targeting products running "unpatched and end-of-life 8.x firmware". So to answer your question, businesses need to get off their duffs and give their IT people the responsibility, resources,  AND the authority to patch those products now, and in a timely manner in the future, or if necessary, upgrade those products to current versions still being supported.

The one thing that is never mentioned in these ransomware attacks is that the actors obviously cloned all of the data while they 0wnd it. So while you may pay to unlock the encryption, all of your data has been compromised and could be used in later attacks.
