I've used Evernote's freemium app for many years but I could never justify the expense to upgrade for more device connections, integration with Google Drive, more bandwidth etc. Since my notetaking needs are simple I decided to switch to Google Keep. Keep doesn't offer rich text or notebooks, but I find I can stay organized through note labels or color coding.

Keep works great with Google Drive, which is my cloud storage option. Keep also works well with Android devices like a smartphone or tablet. I can add an extension to my browser that helps with online research.

For me Keep is a keeper.

I prefer Turtl. It’s open source, encrypted and can be synced across all the OSs https://turtlapp.com/
