lock3M Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 Disclaimer: I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but as its about security apps, thought it would be relevant. I'm having some trouble with accessing specific websites and I'm not sure what is the cause of it. I'm doing a final thesis on virtual private networks, yet, more from a business perspective rather than technological one. The problem is, as I'm trying to access these websites in order to contact them, half of the page looks blank or just does not load. For example, https://apps.apple.com/us/app/nordvpn-vpn-fast-secure/id905953485 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nordvpn.android&hl=en_GB or https://nordvpnteams.com/ , it feels like my adblock is doing it, and is unable to recognize what is an ad or just plain text. If I take specifically the download pages, either the app store or google play store, almost nothing loads, its better if I'm going to the simple url I provided, just a few bars are blank, still annoying because in them - contact details . Same thing happens with other download pages yet only when I'm already at a specific app. What is weird but I think is crucial to solving it, anything ELSE that does not have "vpn" in a website, loads fine. While writing this, I think uBlock is causing this, because if I use another browser, it loads okay, yet if I try disabling it, still the same. Is it possible that I somehow changed how uBlock works and that it targets VPN as a keyword or it gets triggered on its own? I don't want to change the adblock because it worked really well up until now, but if it resorts that I have to stop using it, any suggestions for a god adblock? Quote
sunrat Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 What operating system and browser are you using? I just opened those 3 URLs you posted and they appear fairly normal to me in Firefox on Debian with uBlock Origin active. If you want to check if it's uBlock Origin affecting you, go to uBlock Origin preferences and open the blocklists and search them. If you're using the other uBlock without Origin on the end, I recommend you uninstall it and install uBlock Origin. Welcome to the forums! Quote
zlim Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 No problem for me using Palemoon on a 32 bit Windows Home desktop computer., uBO is 1.16.4.20. Also no problem in FF ESR, same computer and uBO is 1.26.0. I don't think it is uBO causing your issue. Quote
securitybreach Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 They also load fine here using firefox with ublock origin. I would perhaps look at other security extensions/addons that you may have running. Quote

Once I checked the blacklist in uBlocks dashboard and here and behold, almost a hundred keywords that are listed to block, from vpns to antiviruses. I'm clueless to HOW they got there, as I had to figure out that such a thing exists from here. I removed the application from my computer, it works fine now. Yet what worries me, how it got there, there is no one that could've written them physically from my computer as I live alone. Yet as securitybreach suggested, it might be some other applications that I have installed as well, I have a few of them that might be interfering with each other. Once I have time, I'll try to look into this. Thank you guys for the input. Quote
sunrat Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 You still didn't say whether you use uBlock or uBlock Origin. Quote
