Erik, you seem to be having a bit of an issue with your sig image. :(

No idea what is going on. That " ibgZOQ5k8Ub3IN.giff~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~" when I click it takes me to a site selling beds and mattresses. Which is neat as I have been thinking of buying a new mattress lately.

So I am thinking that there is either a gremlin around or the site has been hacked. 😱

Odd, it's not a clickable link for me.

Ahhh it seems to be connected with the picture to the side of " ibgZOQ5k8Ub3IN.giff~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"S3tjfZn.png

Did a bit more digging and it seems there are two links,

E8YE0vi.png

HkxdlPj.png

I have no idea what is going on as I can not track down the location of either image.🤔

MAN! That was totally weird!

Erik's sig was totally polluted with some carp. I don't know how this happened, but my guess is it had something to do with whatever site was hosting his sig image.

Here's the code of his sig line before I changed it:

Quote

<p>
    <span style="color:#000080;"><span style="font-family:'trebuchet ms', helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>Install</strong></span></span></span><span style="color:#000080;"><span style="font-family:'trebuchet ms', helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:18px;"> </span></span></span><a href="https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Main_Page" rel="external nofollow">ARCH</a>
</p>

<p>
    <span style="color:#000080;"><span style="font-family:'trebuchet ms', helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>You&#39;ll never need to install it again</strong></span></span></span>
</p>

<p>
    <span style="color:#000080;"><span style="font-family:'trebuchet ms', helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>&quot;I did and I&#39;m really happy&quot;</strong></span></span></span>
</p>

<p>
    <img alt="ibgZOQ5k8Ub3lN.gif" data-munge-src="http://i.minus.com/ibgZOQ5k8Ub3lN.gif" src="https://forums.scotsnewsletter.com/index.php?app=core&amp;module=system&amp;controller=redirect&amp;url=http://i.minus.com/ibgZOQ5k8Ub3lN.gif&amp;key=2c6f16659ff29a57ee50971824b4ec04395e99afe3e639438b679b643c792119&amp;resource=1">~~~~~~~~~~~~~<img alt="Cr5xhhM.png" data-munge-src="http://i.imgur.com/Cr5xhhM.png" src="https://forums.scotsnewsletter.com/index.php?app=core&amp;module=system&amp;controller=redirect&amp;url=http://i.imgur.com/Cr5xhhM.png&amp;key=102ffea0abf2d610036f30d3e3a6186bfe318b2909b6c499e44db1dc16169145&amp;resource=1">
</p>

I used "Quote" instead of "Code" because the code block doesn't use line breaks and the text runs a quarter mile to the right of the screen. Anyway...

Notice all the links to something called. "i.minus.com".  Weird stuff here...

- there's a Reddit domain called i.minus.com: https://www.reddit.com/domain/i.minus.com/ Just looks like a bunch of carp postings

- i.minus.com won't load (server down) --> http://i.minus.com/ also --> http://issitedownrightnow.com/status/i.minus.com

So, since the entire sig was so polluted with ca-ca, I just deleted ALL and recreated the sig line completely. Erik, I couldn't even copy the image that you were using. I actually had to screenshoot it and save it to my system then upload to my Imgur to put it in your new sig line... more weirdness.

I couldn't find much about i.minus.com via search engines. Can't even do a whois. It's evidently not even a valid domain.

vtel57@ericsbane07~:$ whois i.minus.com
No match for "I.MINUS.COM".
vtel57@ericsbane07~:$ ping -c2 i.minus.com
ping: unknown host i.minus.com

Another interesting link found via Google Search: http://i.minus.com.w3snoop.com/

I would advise everyone here to inspect the source code of their own sig lines to make sure that this pollution has not affected you, also.

I'm off...

I've seen something like this happen at forums.debian.net . Mysterious spam links appear possibly related to the image server. I don't think it was ever solved totally, just reported to admins and they removed the spam link.

Minus was a sort of picture hosting site that I used for storing some pics. The site morphed over the time I used it and I never got around to moving the pictures. Eventually the site folded.

As to the viking picture that is supposed to be on Imgur, I can not find it anywhere in my albums there. They did have a revamp of the site some time ago so maybe it was a casualty of the changes.

Looking at the source code of your original (before I edited) sig line data, I did see the Imgur link for your pic. Here it is here....

Don't worry about it, though, because I have that sig pic served on my Imgur account at this time. All's well.

Yeah I found that link too. However it does not lead to Imgur but by following the links given you end up here,

You REALLY need to check your browser there, my friend. If I copy/paste that link ( http://i.imgur.com/Cr5xhhM.png )  into any browser on my system, it leads to this...

Cr5xhhM.png%20

... and only this. If it leads you somewhere else, you have some issues going on with your browser.

It is the old grey cell that needs a reboot. I was googling the link as opposed to copying it into the address bar. :worthy:

Good! I don't want to stir up trouble. No, really. I'm perfectly content to post to a

small (but sophisticated) audience of folks who I know to be decent and kind.

He has been busy. As he has just retired his 10 year old flip phone and has had to do some intensive training on how to set up and use one of them there modern phones. Monumental task for an old git like me. 😜

Flip-phone?  What is this, 1995?

Well me flip phone cost me £29.99 plus another £3.99 for a replacement battery and running costs of approximately £ 15 per year for PAYG. An it did everything that I required and kept me happy. 😋

I wonder how much other folk spent on their phones over the last ten years ?  🤔

I would never have bought the flip phone as my earlier flip phone still worked ok but it did not have bluetooth which I needed for the voluntary driving. 😎
