No idea what is going on. That " ibgZOQ5k8Ub3IN.giff~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~" when I click it takes me to a site selling beds and mattresses. Which is neat as I have been thinking of buying a new mattress lately. So I am thinking that there is either a gremlin around or the site has been hacked. Quote
securitybreach Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Odd, it's not a clickable link for me. Quote

abarbarian Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Did a bit more digging and it seems there are two links, I have no idea what is going on as I can not track down the location of either image. Quote

V.T. Eric Layton Posted January 28, 2020 Author Posted January 28, 2020 MAN! That was totally weird! Erik's sig was totally polluted with some carp. I don't know how this happened, but my guess is it had something to do with whatever site was hosting his sig image. Here's the code of his sig line before I changed it: Quote <p> <span style="color:#000080;"><span style="font-family:'trebuchet ms', helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>Install</strong></span></span></span><span style="color:#000080;"><span style="font-family:'trebuchet ms', helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:18px;"> </span></span></span><a href="https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Main_Page" rel="external nofollow">ARCH</a> </p> <p> <span style="color:#000080;"><span style="font-family:'trebuchet ms', helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>You'll never need to install it again</strong></span></span></span> </p> <p> <span style="color:#000080;"><span style="font-family:'trebuchet ms', helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>"I did and I'm really happy"</strong></span></span></span> </p> <p> <img alt="ibgZOQ5k8Ub3lN.gif" data-munge-src="http://i.minus.com/ibgZOQ5k8Ub3lN.gif" src="https://forums.scotsnewsletter.com/index.php?app=core&module=system&controller=redirect&url=http://i.minus.com/ibgZOQ5k8Ub3lN.gif&key=2c6f16659ff29a57ee50971824b4ec04395e99afe3e639438b679b643c792119&resource=1">~~~~~~~~~~~~~<img alt="Cr5xhhM.png" data-munge-src="http://i.imgur.com/Cr5xhhM.png" src="https://forums.scotsnewsletter.com/index.php?app=core&module=system&controller=redirect&url=http://i.imgur.com/Cr5xhhM.png&key=102ffea0abf2d610036f30d3e3a6186bfe318b2909b6c499e44db1dc16169145&resource=1"> </p> I used "Quote" instead of "Code" because the code block doesn't use line breaks and the text runs a quarter mile to the right of the screen. Anyway... Notice all the links to something called. "i.minus.com". Weird stuff here... - there's a Reddit domain called i.minus.com: https://www.reddit.com/domain/i.minus.com/ Just looks like a bunch of carp postings - i.minus.com won't load (server down) --> http://i.minus.com/ also --> http://issitedownrightnow.com/status/i.minus.com So, since the entire sig was so polluted with ca-ca, I just deleted ALL and recreated the sig line completely. Erik, I couldn't even copy the image that you were using. I actually had to screenshoot it and save it to my system then upload to my Imgur to put it in your new sig line... more weirdness. I couldn't find much about i.minus.com via search engines. Can't even do a whois. It's evidently not even a valid domain. vtel57@ericsbane07~:$ whois i.minus.com No match for "I.MINUS.COM". vtel57@ericsbane07~:$ ping -c2 i.minus.com ping: unknown host i.minus.com Another interesting link found via Google Search: http://i.minus.com.w3snoop.com/ I would advise everyone here to inspect the source code of their own sig lines to make sure that this pollution has not affected you, also. I'm off... ~E. 1 Quote

sunrat Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 I've seen something like this happen at forums.debian.net . Mysterious spam links appear possibly related to the image server. I don't think it was ever solved totally, just reported to admins and they removed the spam link. 1 Quote
abarbarian Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 (edited) Minus was a sort of picture hosting site that I used for storing some pics. The site morphed over the time I used it and I never got around to moving the pictures. Eventually the site folded. As to the viking picture that is supposed to be on Imgur, I can not find it anywhere in my albums there. They did have a revamp of the site some time ago so maybe it was a casualty of the changes. https://www.reddit.com/r/imguralternatives/comments/3e195t/minuscom_a_social_networky_image_host/ Edited January 29, 2020 by abarbarian 1 Quote
V.T. Eric Layton Posted January 29, 2020 Author Posted January 29, 2020 Looking at the source code of your original (before I edited) sig line data, I did see the Imgur link for your pic. Here it is here.... http://i.imgur.com/Cr5xhhM.png Don't worry about it, though, because I have that sig pic served on my Imgur account at this time. All's well. Quote

You REALLY need to check your browser there, my friend. If I copy/paste that link ( http://i.imgur.com/Cr5xhhM.png ) into any browser on my system, it leads to this... ... and only this. If it leads you somewhere else, you have some issues going on with your browser. 1 Quote

I was googling the link as opposed to copying it into the address bar. 1 Quote

Cluttermagnet Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 This continues to be a problem. I think something may be corrupted in abarbarian's signature? Cluttermagnet Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Disgruntled pro-v*xx*rs defacing Scot's site because they don't like what Clutter has written in the Coronavirus thread? Have we been hacked? Hey- have I finally attracted an audience? And is that good or bad? Clutter Quote
Cluttermagnet Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Good! I don't want to stir up trouble. No, really. I'm perfectly content to post to a small (but sophisticated) audience of folks who I know to be decent and kind. Clutter Quote

Well me flip phone cost me £29.99 plus another £3.99 for a replacement battery and running costs of approximately £ 15 per year for PAYG. An it did everything that I required and kept me happy. I wonder how much other folk spent on their phones over the last ten years ? I would never have bought the flip phone as my earlier flip phone still worked ok but it did not have bluetooth which I needed for the voluntary driving. Quote
sunrat Posted August 1, 2020 Posted August 1, 2020 Hmm, no sig line issue now. Was it fixed? Was it just in that one thread? Or did it just vanish as mysteriously as it appeared? 1 Quote
