So Aggravated...

... that I just have to post about the terrible, buggy, annoying carp that this forum has been doing since the last update to the software a while back.

1) Cannot post using [ code] [ /code] because the board insists on printing out all the full html coding, so you end up with div, bold, size, font tags in the code you're trying to display.

2) Similar issues as above with [ quote] [ /quote] tags.

3) In Chromium, the backspace key misfunctions. It moved the cursor up a line and then deletes typed characters on the wrong line.

4) PMs suffer from these same issues above.

This has pee'd me off so much lately that I've taken to constructing my posts in a text editor and then C/P-ing to the post box on the forum.

IS THIS JUST ME? Or are other experiencing these things?

Note: This also happens to me with Firefox.

Thank you for reading my rant.

Have a nice day! :)

Honestly, I haven't witnessed those issues at all and I post all the time. The only time I had the extra html codes show up are when I post text from some sites and it tries to copy over the formatting but other that, no issues. And the rare times that it happened, it was no biggie to delete the formatting.

So sorry to hear your issues but this is not a wide spread, at least for not me.

I can't speak to the other issues, but it was my understanding that the purpose of the code tags is to allow you to display "full html coding" to other members.

Yes, that is the purpose. Otherwise, code snippets would be incomplete.

Well, maybe it's just me, then. :(

Testing...

OK, this is a test...

Testing...

See this mess above in the code box? That's what happens when I c/p from my terminal, even pasting "plain text."

Let me try a hand-typed code entry...

This is a test of typed (not c/p) code.

That seems to be OK.

Testing some more...

Hmmm...

Also, I found out that the backspace issue that I'm having where the backspace key doesn't delete characters immediately to the left, but jumps back entire line breaks before deleting doesn't seem to be a problem when I'm not using the custom color theme on this board. If I just use the "classic" theme, the backspace seems to behave properly. Interesting.

I think you broke it lol... Works here:

Example: I want to show a forum newbie how to get

boldface

The code tags let me show everything:

boldface

OR....

If I type a URL, the forum will shorten what's displayed, and make it "clickable".

http://forums.scotsn....com/index.php?

If I want to show the entire URL, or believe that it's too dangerous to risk accidental "clicking", or we don't want to reveals ourselves as a "referrer".... I can use the code tags:

http://forums.scotsnewsletter.com/index.php?

That's not a problem, that's how it's supposed to work.

Anyway, this started doing this after the last update of the board's software a year or so ago. It had never done this in the decade prior, through numerous other updates.

Well, it's trivial compared to Pres-Elect Trump's nuclear stockpiling ideas. ;)
