feel
Would it be possible to make an AUR package for this? I forgot to say that the junest script has another feature. It downloads the right JuNest image according to the architecture of the host OS. Yes, the junest script can be placed in an AUR package so you can have your own JuNest environment in your Arch. It will be something like: yaourt -S junest junest --help junest -- uname -m JUNEST_HOME=~/.junest-arm junest -a arm -- uname -m Which is cool, but this will not add so much value in case you want to use JuNest on a different GNU/Linux distribution. feel
Good point I created the issue https://github.com/fsquillace/junest/issues/102 I am going to work on it soon. Thanks!
abarbarian
Which is cool, but this will not add so much value in case you want to use JuNest on a different GNU/Linux distribution. It should be easy for folk to make a package for another distro from the AUR package. Might be a fiddle and some work but that's what being a penguin is all about ain't it ? Glad to see my anarchist skills are still in working order Edited August 5, 2015 by abarbarian

abarbarian
Hey glad to see you survived the trip. Whilst unloading you may want to fire up some local style music to keep the natives happy. I suggest Gris Gris or Creole Moon http://www.nitetripper.com/music.html an so you don't look out of place eating local food is always a good idea http://www.southernliving.com/food/holidays-occasions/new-orleans-mardi-gras-recipes an a bucketful of Sazerac will definitely make the locals warm to you http://www.neworleansonline.com/neworleans/cuisine/drinks/sazerac.html though personally I would replace the bitters with the original ingredient http://www.absinthe101.com/effects.html an if you have any energy left take a tour of the town http://nola.eater.com/maps/new-orleans-16-most-iconic-drinks just a couple of drinks at each venue should be enough.

securitybreach
Have you ran rankmirrors against the mirrorlist.pacnew in /etc/pacman.d/ ? Edit out all the US mirrors in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.pacnew. Then as root, run: rankmirrors -n 7 /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.pacnew > /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist pacman -Syy

[y/N] also why does this link on the AUR page lead to a dead aur page Git Clone URL: https://aur4.archlin...junest-git.git/ (read-only) like this .... also why are there two AUR packages ???? The first error as securitybreach mentioned is due to the mirror link. You need to update the local db repository using: pacman -Syy The double "y" forces the pacman system to update the db information. The real links are the following: https://aur4.archlinux.org/packages/junest-git https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/junest-git There are two aur packages since AUR is migrating to a newer system based on git. The August 8th the new AUR will be pointed to aur.archlinux.org. In the meanwhile, I have just created the packages for both old and new service.
feel
An why does the "sources" link ... give this result ... These AUR packages are based on git. In PKGBUILD it is possible to specify as a source a specific git repository with a given branch, tag or commit. Everytime a new change to JuNest will be pushed to master, it will be visible in the AUR packages itself without the need to update the AUR package all the time. This is very handy!

abarbarian
Have you ran rankmirrors against the mirrorlist.pacnew in /etc/pacman.d/ ? Edit out all the US mirrors in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.pacnew. Then as root, run: rankmirrors -n 7 /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.pacnew > /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist pacman -Syy Good general information. However I use UK mirrors and my pacman mirror list is up to date. Well it don't install here, also why are there two AUR packages ???? The real links are the following: https://aur4.archlin...ages/junest-git https://aur.archlinu...ages/junest-git There are two aur packages since AUR is migrating to a newer system based on git. The August 8th the new AUR will be pointed to aur.archlinux.org. In the meanwhile, I have just created the packages for both old and new service. Ah ha righty o I had forgotten about the AUR change over. That is as maybe. However I am supposed to be able to view the source code and to help me do this easily there are supposed to be links on the AUR page that lead me to the source. Yet the links on your page lead me nowhere or around in loops. Using the new AUR link https://aur4.archlin...ages/junest-git I try Git Clone URL: https://aur.archlinu...junest-git.git/ (read-only) and it leads me here Following this Package Base: junest-git leads me back to https://aur4.archlin...ges/junest-git/ and following this Sources junest leads me to So I am a tad puzzled as to how I can view the source from those links. abarbarian
Ok the package installs on my Arch. I guess there was a problem with my broadband supply when I tried the other day. So all is good. I still do not understand the business about the way the links do not lead to the source.

I still do not understand the business about the way the links do not lead to the source. I see your point. It would be nice if those links would lead to the real source code without parsing the source link in some way. It might be possible that the Arch Linux developers will eventually provide a more useful link for the source in the AUR website. For the moment the convention used to build AUR packages using VCS sources is the following: https://www.archlinux.org/pacman/PKGBUILD.5.html#_using_vcs_sources_a_id_vcs_a
