Notification emails?

[Moderators: Please move this to a more suitable forum if this is the wrong place to ask this.]I have a question about the notification emails. In another forum I am a member of, each new post that I am involved in or 'watching' results in a notification email. Here, it seems that quite a few new posts are added before and email comes alerting me to that fact. The email states:"There may be more replies to this topic, but only 1 email is sent per board visit for each subscribed topic. This is to limit the amount of mail that is sent to your inbox."I am not quite sure what "only 1 email is sent per board visit for each subscribed topic" means. Is there anyway to change this behaviour? Thanks!

The main reason to avoid flooding your email client with replies.
Thanks, I understood that much from the portion I quoted. On the other forum (I don't like to compare, but...) you receive 1 notification, but no more until you visit the topic again. This prevents inbox flooding, too. :)

Yes, it can be confusing ... generally it is one email per topic you are watching, per login/logout. If you just close the browser and do not logout, you may not see one until you time out, and then you won't receive any again till on that given watched topic until you login again. If you logout when you leave the forum, you generally will get one and no others on a given watched topic till you login again. There are caveats with this. I have noticed that there are rare times when the server does appear to miss one here or there. Why? I don't know for sure, but it is true that it does happen once in a while.Hope this helps James.

Thanks. I'll try logging out after each session and see how that works. Sometimes I've come back to a topic and there are several additional posts from when I was there earlier. :)
