lewmur
You only have until Aug 31st to purchase a TechNet subscription. For $199, a TechNet subscription allows you to download and install a whole batch of MS products. Just for starters, you get two keys for Win8 32 Pro, US version and two UK. The same for 64 bit. The same for Win7. Also included are several versions of MS Office. And many, many more.

Did not realize they were still taking new customers for this. You need an M.S account (quite reasonable) , but someone forgot to update a page ... V.T. Eric Layton
Another data sink like Google in the making. MS has finally wised up and learned from the masters of data scarfing.

"A single Microsoft account gets you into Hotmail, Xbox LIVE, Windows Phone, SkyDrive, and other Microsoft services." You don't have to give away in legit personal info when creating an M.S. Account other than the CC info you give to any online seller. Personally, I have very low limit CC used for online purchases.

V.T. Eric Layton
Google is a data sink... a drain for data. Everything gets sucked down the Google drain on their servers to be used as they see fit for their enrichment. MS has been behind the times in making profit in this matter. Now, with their new cloud apps, Bing data mining, and Win 8.1 they are beginning to utilize Google's business plan to enrich themselves further by using the data freely given to them by their biological storage units... er, I mean customers. lewmur
All of these post and not a single one about the TechNet subscription itself. Does every topic have to turn into a discussion about the evils of "data gathering"?
crp
My point about the sign up page was that it still says 'Hotmail'. I'd love to comment on the services provided but M.S won't accept my Visa creditcard

I'd love to comment on the services provided but M.S won't accept my Visa creditcard I think there is something wrong with their online ordering software. When I tried to place my order, I got an error message saying my bank turned down the transaction. I checked with the bank and they said there hadn't been any request for a transaction. I gave up and placed my order by phone.

I believe I am (as usual) the culprit behind the derailed topic. Why Microsoft Killed TechNet

V.T. Eric Layton
Never tried it. Looks yummy. Unfortunately, pizza is not on my healthful menu these days... just small portions of beef, pork, chicken with broccoli and cauliflower, and lots of salad. Eating isn't much fun anymore. But... gotta' do what I gotta' do if I want to live to be 104, or until they have the technology to put me in a new body (cloned or machine-based). "Who wants to live forever?" H3LL! I do... well, not forever, but a really long time.

No phone number is listed on any of the ordering pages.

crp
They finally fixed the problem on the web site. BUT if you tried placing an order while they were messed up, you will get an error message and you need to call in (and wait a few days for activation) because they still have the faulted order in the system.
