Hi again all

AM :whistling: still running XP pro (for various reasons) and have tried a few email programs --->>>

Outlook Express

Thunderbird

Dream Mail

Evolution

STILL NOT happy with any of them

Outlook Express - 6.??? locks up while inserting password

Thunderbird - just goes haywire

Dream locked up with so many different windows on install

Evolution - just installed - did not delete the Trash and it still sits there

ANY ideas on OTHER email while i still persevere with XP

Cheers for Years

Colin

For Windows or Macs, you can try out Postbox which is done by the original developers for Thunderbird. It's a bit different, has plugins and it's free to try, $9.95 to buy. Windows and Mac only so far. It still allows you to look at emails in Plain Text and you can disallow images inline. And many other great features.

Windows Live Mail, but I think they just call it Mail now, is another free alternative for Windows. I don't and won't use it. But many like it.

Pegasus Mail is another free (not open source) email client (they do accept donations), that I used before I moved to the original Thunderbird Beta. I really liked it a lot. They are all about viewing emails in a safe manner, and allow you to disallow images inline, and reading in plain text.

They also have a commercial product that's free Mercury/32/info if you prefer.

I remember Pocomail! I didn't even know they were still around. :)

Eudora is still around, not just as Penelope. Plenty of places to find it.

I use to use Pegasus but I do a lot less lists emails and do a lot more browser based to the IMAP server at work and home.

Though I have just started using Thunderbird for some work related email accounts.

And don't forget the paid version of POP Peeper .

Just did a check on Eudora and see that it is buit on to of Thunderbird codebase but seemingly it is not compatible with Mozilla does not supply support for it.

You have that wrong, Colin... variety is the spice of life. Decisions are the source of stress in life. ;)

Hello,

A few other choices:

Forte - Agent (which is more of a newsreader)

RimArts - Becky! Internet Mail

RIT Labs - The Bat!

Sylpheed - Sylpheed

Zimbra - Zimbra Desktop

For what it's worth, the last commercial release of Qualcomm Eudora works fine under Microsoft Windows 8.

Regards,

Aryeh Goretsky

I just finished a two week trial with Sylpheed and I would recommend skipping it if ease of use is high on the list. I also had major problems in getting it to work with a modern SMTP sending port, which was finally the deal breaker.

Is FoxMail still operational? I know it is the number one, or was email client in China. (It has nothing to do with Firefox. It had it's name when Mozilla's browser was named Phoenix).
