This is just plain laziness on Adobe's part. Not everyone will be moving to Google Chrome or Iron. Many of us still will use Firefox, Opera and other cross platform browsers. Well nothing has happened yet, they just mentioned requiring the "Pepper" api and Mozilla said that they would not be using the api.
