Owyn
Nice Quint:url href to full image, postage stamp jpg as the description. Will be making use of it.Good solution for embedded images with reasonable dial-up performance.

zlim
I would like to learn how to do this. Would someone please spell out in detail how to post a thumbnail.I'm on dialup and do appreciate the thumbnails because I don't have to wait for a huge image to load. Guest LilBambi
Here are some textual instructions:Just use 'thumpnail' image tag as the "My Webpage" text area of an HTML URL Link which would be the full size picture. One of Arena2045's desktop's postings from this thread:Post your Desktop Screenshots: Round II: Now here's the code: [URL=http://www.arena2045.net/press/desktop-12-16x.jpg][IMG=http://www.arena2045.net/press/desktop-12-16.jpg][/URL] Â (code would actually be on one line, but I have intentionally broken to two lines to keep from causing horizontal scrolling.)See how the http:// URL link button for the forums which by default says "My Webpage" if you don't change it to something else is where you put the link to the thumbnail IMG you see?Hope that made sense. Ed_P
That's pretty cool Bambi. Any chance the http:// link button for the forums can have the verbage "My Webpage" changed to "My Webpage or Thumbnail IMG tag"?
Guest LilBambi
Thanks EdP.This is just a cool trick to make use of integrating the IMG tag and http:// link button coder to provide thumbnail pictures and links to full size pictures, so folks can see if they'd like to click on the http:// link to see the full size picture.Thereby keeping the page loads quick for dialup users and keeps the horizontal scrolling to non-existent.Unless the IPB forum software itself adds that in, it would just be one of those things to keep up on when security changes and upgrades happen. But we might be able to add it to the Forum Annoucement area or Forum Feedback area so folks can find the instructions easier after we get the verbage where we like it. Ed_P
Bambi maybe a Sticky for image Thumbnails showing the "formula", and the steps for using the http:// and IMG buttons then cutting & pasting them together, maybe some suggestions for uploading them and links to free websites for uploading the images and maybe even suggesting some sizes for the thumbnails would be useful. Why this thing could become a whole forum in it's own right. Speaking of Stickys there are some old ones in the Security and Networking forum, dating back to Oct and Nov that might be "unstuck" at this point. imhoThis look about right? The IPB Forum sw choked on the text format when posting Reply.
Guest LilBambi
Hey, EDP, looks like we were both thinking along the same lines and you came back in while I was posting about this in the SFNL Forums Annoucment area and added a cool example thumbnail. :)I might just borrow the thumbnail to put in the instructions here if that would be OK with you:Create Thumbnails
zlim
Thanks LilBambi, I finally "got it". I was going to post a thumbnail of one of my desktops then discovered from Corrine at Freedomlist that villagephoto no longer allows hot-linking for the free accounts. Guest LilBambi
So glad the instructions helped!Hopefully folks that know of other places to post pic files post them in the forum feedback topic I linked to so folks can have some other alternatives if the don't have webspace of their own. In the meantime, I will PM you.
zlim
Let's see if this works that doesn't cut it - dynamic pages in the img tags not allowed. So I learned I have a dynamic page at www.remtek.netOk, this is the best I can do here. Go to http://www.remtek.net/zlim and you can see 2 jps that I've "published". No hot-linking just allowing people to view what is published. I'll see if that works as advertised (hey it's free). That works. If you click on the link, you see thumbnails. Clicking on either one brings up a large image on the left and thumbnails of all the images on the right.

I don't know if they are still around. I've never used one so i don't really have one to recommend, but an ebay image host google search might come up with something.FYI, using ebay image hosts to link pictures here might violate their TOS...
