lewmur
Firefox has again disabled Adobe Flash saying there is a newer version available. But I just got the d@mned thing working again yesterday after it was disabled when FF upgraded itself to FF6. And it isn't as if the Flash plugin install was just a mouse click away. This is becoming a real pain in the six. Is there a way to tell FF to mind it's own business and let ME decide when to upgrade?

lewmur
Did you try grabbing and installing this? Flash for FFTelling FF to mind its own business is like wrestling with Windows Update.Yeah. I've installed it. Several times. It seems like I'm having to install it every other day. But it seems like each time I do, FF decides it's "not the latest version" and disables it. It seems to happen each time there is an update for FF itself. If it keeps this up, I'll do what I did about Windows update. Tell 'em to stick it and use something else. Anybody having this trouble with Chrome? Edited August 24, 2011 by lewmur
frapper
My FF6 shows the Flash plugin as 10.3.183.5. No problems. When I check to see if the plugins are current, it shows Shockwave FlashShockwave Flash 10.3 r183 (listed underneath 10.3.183.5) as current.I wish you could totally remove out-of-date or disabled plugins without jumping through hoops and drilling deep. Neil P
Anybody having this trouble with Chrome?Chrome has its own version of Flash. Updating Chrome updates Flash (if there's an update to be had).http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/a...y?answer=108086 Adobe Flash is directly integrated with Google Chrome and enabled by default. Any available updates for Adobe Flash are automatically included in Google Chrome system updates.

I manually install the flash plugin in my /home//.mozilla/firefox//plugins folder. Never have issues with it getting wiped, deactivated, updated, etc.

Neil P
You can (and should) also go to http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ to check that your plugins are up to date. Most of the major plugins will be checked and directly link to updates if they're out of date.
