quint Posted April 20, 2003 Posted April 20, 2003 Does anyone recommend this? It is free, and it has gotten a good rating by TechTV. Curious, and would like to know if any problems are associated with it.http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/...ls/MBSAHome.ASP Quote
Peachy Posted April 20, 2003 Posted April 20, 2003 We use it at work to make sure all of our Windows 2000 Servers have the latest security patches installed. It will tell you what needs to be downloaded and recommendations for security settings, especially if you have IIS running. Quote

jbredmound Posted April 21, 2003 Posted April 21, 2003 I had some problems with it, as did a number of others whose reviews I read; specifically, it would tell me that I needed patches that I had. I downloaded a few times before, via Belarc advisor, I determined that it never changed it's tune, even after a new download of the patch in question.I also had the experience of finding a patch that I needed that BSA had reported as installed.I still use it from time to time, but I do not consider it authoritative. Perhaps sometime in the future. Thank you both, Quote
Guest ThunderRiver Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 I use it sometmies, but most of the time, I updates my system using Windows Updates. It is designed mainly for IIS like peachy said Quote
