nilson Posted November 17, 2003 Posted November 17, 2003 Is this a winmodem, and are they supported well in Linux kernel 2.4?OneTwo Quote
Peachy Posted November 17, 2003 Posted November 17, 2003 Just by looking at the pictures I would guess #1 is a winmodem and #2 is a hardware modem. Go with the USR. Since it's ISA it 99% certain it's a hardware modem. Does your computer have an ISA slot though? It's the long black slot at the bottom of your motherboard. The PCI slots are white. Quote
nilson Posted November 17, 2003 Author Posted November 17, 2003 I don't know. Let me check my pic of the inside :'( Quote
nilson Posted November 17, 2003 Author Posted November 17, 2003 I see 3 pci, 1 agp, and the Winmodem's in a small black slot, not sure what it is. Quote
Guest LilBambi Posted November 17, 2003 Posted November 17, 2003 If you have a serial port open, you can't go wrong with an external modem with Linux. Here's one from ComputerSurplusOutlet.com that's priced between the two listed above:http://www.computersurplusoutlet.com/viewp...ctID=MOD-X56SER Quote
