Raker Posted April 16, 2003 Posted April 16, 2003 I am using Windows XP ProWhen i go to 'Start' 'Run' & type in a command line (e.g driverquery) a box which looks like a "Dos' box briefly appears with,i assume, the results.Unfortunately it disappears as soon as the results are displayed.Any thoughts on why it disappears or are the results placed somewhere obscure? Peachy Posted April 16, 2003 Posted April 16, 2003 That's the default behaviour when typing a command in the run box; the cmd box opens and then it closes when it is finished. Obviously, not too useful. I think you can modify it's behaviour in the environment settings, but it is just as simple as typing in cmd to get the command (or DOS-like box, because it isn't DOS) and then typing in the command from there. The window won't close on you. Quote
Scot Posted April 16, 2003 Posted April 16, 2003 (edited) You can't literally access the Command Prompt that way. You can do Start > Run > type "command" (or "cmd" as Peachy says) and press Enter. That will open the Command Prompt, where you can no type C: or whatever. The other way to get to the Command Prompt is Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. You can Ctrl-Drag and Drop the Command Prompt onto your main Start menu to make accessing it easier.Does this help, or did I miss your point? <_ scot> Edited April 16, 2003 by scot Quote
