cannot EDIT posts

Well, in that case it´ s a nice spare one, but you could try a bank og 256 mB in the rig to total it at 512 , 256 = 768 mB ; Maybe you could temporary borrow a bank from another machine or a friend ? You have to find out were the upper maximum is, as I stated earlier 768 mB flies, it flew on my rig when I tested it. (Athlon XP2400 / 512 mB DDR / 80 gB + 40 gB HD´ s). My problem was that I did not need it at the time I tested it but it was good to see it actually work en it´ s good to know; I couldn ´ tafford a 3rd bank of 256 mB then, but now I could. In fact I am ready to put the other one in my machine soon. Daughter has the same motherboard but she has the 3.0HT processor instead of the 2.8Ghz HT processor I have. Thanks striker for your report on this.I have seen something like this in the past on rare occasions.However, when I deleted the garbled info and left the real text, it generally worked fine.I have not seen it since the very early days of the Forum.I have contacted Scot and Arena2045 about it so we can find out what may be going on.Thanks againEDIT: I have also posted a question about this to the IPB folks. Hope to hear back soon.BTW: have you noticed whether the posts in question had only one quote in the reply, or was it a reply with 2 or more distinctive quotes in the reply?

Editing replies with multiple quotes from same quoted message4. Editing replies with multiple quotes from various messages5. This looks similar to a bug I have seen personally. After a long sequence of edits on a given message that I had already posted to the forum, I would be served an incomplete window that lacked the Preview and Submit Modified Post buttons, plus anything that normally should appear below them on the full page. I found that this usually happened only after quite a number of consecutive edits on a single post that did work. The cause was never certain, but others did comment at the time that they had seen it too. The malfunction only affected my ability to make further edits to that one post. All other forum functions remained normal. Usually, giving it a rest overnight would allow the problem to self-correct. I suspected that it was a software problem at the forum server, as no amount of closing/ restarting my browser or Windows fixed it from my end.

Thanks Owyn,When I tried to edit the first post in that thread, I did see all the HTML in the edit box.And when I tried to edit Bruno's two posts down, it did not haev the HTML in the edit box.That could be a clue.

IPB has moved to two levels of help, free member to member and paid help.I have been waiting on an answer from anyone regarding this in the IPB member to member area.It does appear to have something to do with editing multiple distinct quotes in messages, however I have not been able to get a peep out of anyone over at IPB.Maybe some of you can add your voice here: IPB Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Some quotes troublesFurther, member to member help on the forum has no ability to search the forums now, this is for paid members only now. I did, at one point, have sound in this here install of Slack. I'm sure that updates of mine have ruined it, I'm just not sure what I did/need to do. KDE used to give me an error (I believe it was something along the lines of "/dev/dsp does not exist"; i'm bad at remembering error messages...and I said "do not show this again"). I am 99% sure that I updated alsa through swaret, perhaps there is a new command/configure that I need to do?<br><br>2)Perhaps a bigger issue...I cannot burn CD's with my CD-RW drive. I can access CDs through my DVD drive (top drive in the case, if that means <i>anything</i> at all), I don't think I've tried to even access them in the CD-RW drive. /mnt only lists "cdrom", no "cdrom1" or "cdrom2". I don't believe its mounted either, as I had to mount it previously myself.<br><br>I don't really know what other kind of information I can give...but I will gladly supply anything you much wiser experts need to see. Hmmm.I tried to go in and edit other posts...and they work fine (including this one)...maybe its because I have 3 quotes in that particular post? I'm lost here. This doesn't make any sense.Maybe a moderator/admin (someone with super post editing abilities) can try it and see if they are having the same problem? It is my second post in the thread "New Problems - Slack 9.1".

Yes, this on occasion has happened. I have merged your Topic Neil with this Topic on this subject.You will see we all have experienced this but very infrequently and almost always with multiple quote posts.Still no answers from IPB.
