I wanted to share another of my wonderful experiences. Maybe save someone some aggravation. We now have a number of users running Office XP on Windows XP machines. A couple users had reported a "glitch" in the display when in the Office program where a rectangular box will appear on screen about 1/3 up from the bottom of the screen. Basically looks like an area of the screen doesn't refresh and that specific area stays the same until all Office apps are closed. I thought perhaps it was a video card and/or video driver issue. I first updated video drivers, then later even replaced the video card in a pc to see if that fixed the problem. It didn't. One lady who is very nice, but persistant keep calling me on the issue, so I was forced to look further into the issue with my copious free time. I went to the Microsoft knowledge base (which btw works much better than it used to). I managed to stumble across this article. It seemed to be the exact thing we were seeing on some pc's. Apparently there is a range of memory which becomes corrupt and causes the graphic glitch. I contacted Microsoft since this is required for this particular hotfix and they sent me the patch. Lo and behold it appears the fix did indeed work. Plus it didn't appear to screw up anything either! Halleluhah! I thought I'd pass along. It's a rather unique thing that occurs and only on some machines. Might seem to occur with a person that is moreso a heavy excel and word user.BTW I was informed that this fix will be implemented in the next service pack.
