LLfan
There is a horribly addicting game that comes with Mandrake called Cannon Smash. Now upon recommendation, I installed Gkrellm, and have it open. I noticed that when I play cannon smash my cpu usage is at 99% and stays there the moment I start the game.ANy ideas as to what may be causing this--is it more likely a problem with the game then with my resource allocation? Bruno
Sorry Mike,Never played that game, but if I pull it up and start the game it gives 99% too . . . looks like heavy use for a game with such a light ball . . . Bruno
teacher
Same thing here. It must just grab whatever is available.
LLfan
Seems pretty ridiculous that it would do that but as long as it's not just my machine. =)
mike180
You might try increasing your RAM to 512MBs. Todays prices are quite cheap especially at www.pricewatch.com. mike180
LLfan
Yeah, definately need to upgrade--I tend to do a once a year upgrade of RAM, graphics card, and if I have enough CPU and mobo. So, I'll wait and see what the pot is at the end of the year. =)
teacher
It won't make any difference if you upgrade with that game. That is what I have in my machine and it still comes out at 99%.
Owyn
Seems pretty ridiculous that it would do that but as long as it's not just my machine. =)Probably a feature in the program (feature: Written to spec but the spec is wrong).Sounds like the developer is using a spin loop to watch for events. Sort of Ok on a single user system but a real no-no on a mult-user/multi-tasking system.
