DarkSerge
HiI have myself a new laptop!I can't remember what I installed to get all my video working on my other computer. I have a few file formats that I can't play, but on my XP system they play just fine in Windows Media Player. Right now I can't play flash video files (flv) or ogg/ogm video files. What's a really good all-around video codec pack for Windows 7? Something that just allows me to play files in media player without having to run any special players that comes with it.

Webb
I didn't know Windows Media Player would play .flv even if you have the codecs. Live and learn. But to answer your question install the K-Lite codec pack. But I do what Tushman does. I used to use VLC but it's too complicated, too ugly. Now I use KM PLayer. It also comes with all of the codecs.
alphaomega
For flv in Windows I use winpyflv.winpyflvHTH
Tushman
I didn't know Windows Media Player would play .flv even if you have the codecs. Live and learn. That's what I thought initially. After doing a quick search on the net, seems like there's a "work around" solution. But I do what Tushman does. I used to use VLC but it's too complicated, too ugly. Now I use KM PLayer. It also comes with all of the codecs.I will concede that VLC doesn't have the best looking interface, but the playback quality on avi and flv videos is top notch IMHO. I have heard of KM Player - I may check it out just to see how it looks. Edited April 18, 2010 by Tushman
DarkSerge
Media Player's been playing my FLV files on my XP system for some time now, well over a year, long enough that I can't remember how I made it that way. Thanks
DarkSerge
The K-Lite Codec pack seems to have done the trick
