It can tell you almost anything about your computer (OS,Kernel Version, IP addresses, Fan speeds, CPU Temperature and much much more).... read the rest of the article at bhaviks Blog --> http://bhaviksblog.com/02/awesome-system-m...ing-with-conky/Enjoy! V.T. Eric Layton Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 Been playing with Conky tonight. It's really neato and all that... but MAN! What a pain in the posterior area to set up and customize. Quote
securitybreach Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Yes it is always nice to have tons of examples. Thats why I like that thread I posted above. Quote
V.T. Eric Layton Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 If I get impatient, I may just set my ol' gkrellm back up instead. Quote
securitybreach Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 If I get impatient, I may just set my ol' gkrellm back up instead. Oh but you can do so much more with conky. I have seen some amazing shots of it. Quote
V.T. Eric Layton Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 Yeah... but most of that amazing stuff that you can do with conky I don't really have a need for. Quote
securitybreach Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Well I just meant things like cpu load, partitions, network load etc. nothing extremely techy. Basically the same thing that gkrellm does but nicer looking. I dunno this looks pretty useful and neat: http://i.imagehost.org/view/0420/Screenshot_10 Quote
V.T. Eric Layton Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 Oh, I thought you meant like running my audio player or getting my emails.gkrellm can do cpu and eth0, plus temps, power supply voltages, etc. Quote
securitybreach Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Yup gkrellm is nice but I prefer conky whenever I use non-tiling wms. I find it more customizable than gkrellm. Easer to edit a config file than install plugins. Quote

I was not meaning that one is better than the other. It was just my opinion. Quote
