twofivepie
I have just tried a Linksys Wireless -G PCI card in my PC and it doesn't boot or bring up any video. I have tried (at Linksys suggestion) it in all 4 slots and removed the sound card, isdn card and modem card without any success.I have an A-Trend 6220M motherboard and an Award BIOS 4.51PG.I thought I might investigate a BIOS upgrade, but have found that this seems a rather murky world. First of all I don't seem to be able to find A-Trend on the internet. Some sites point to www.atrend.com, but this seems to be a 'for sale' website. Then I have found various websites offering Award upgrades, but yet again I read dire warnings about using the generic BIOS and being sure to use the actual, configured BIOS for your system. Not quite sure what to do now. (PS the machine works correctly if I take the card out)
nlinecomputers
Sounds like a bad card to me. No BIOS issue is going to cause the system to fail to power up with a card in it. The system is being stopped before the bios even can startup and do it's post test. The card is probalby shorted out. You might check the card for damage or try the old trick of cleaning the card contacts with an eraser.
twofivepie
Thanks - sorry about the multiple posts - the submit form kept timing out - apparently - so I retried a few times. Now I look on the forum it looks like I keep trying to post the same issue.
