Moved Word docs looking for old server

I recently transferred all the data from one win2k fileserver to another with more disk space, the old server was still on the network with all the old shares still there but I changed the login script to map users drives to the new server. All was fine until I felt the transfer had gone without a hitch and turned off the old server. Now users are getting a very long delay when opening some word docs, this happens irrespective of the users o.s. or version of MSWord. I have looked at the docs with a hex editor and found references to the unc path to the workgroup templates on the old server, I have updated the workgroup templates location in word, but this doesn't fix the problem. Is there an easy way to replace these references, they are not plain textHuge McGuffen
