zlim Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 If the notebook is new, didn't it come with the offer "free upgrade to windows 7"? Most of the computers sold lately say that.I bought an HP notebook in 2001 with ME. At the time, I was offered an upgrade to XP for $30 when XP came out. I waited and HP sent me, not only an XP cd with the holograph/serial number but also a CD with programs to replace those that would not run in XP but ran in ME. They also had extensive instructions as to what I had to do to upgrade from ME to XP.I think you'd be better waiting until win 7 came out and getting the released edition rather than running RC1 or a beta of win 7.
