longgone Posted July 31, 2009 Author Posted July 31, 2009 I have the "Super Grub" disk but I cannot get it to work .. so I am not sure if the disk is bad or .. it is operator error .. have tried to both use it after the OS is booted up and to try and boot with it in the tray .. neither way has worked for me ... ???? You should download the latest version and try burning another cd. Burn at slowest speed posible. What happens when you try to boot SuperGrub? Edited July 31, 2009 by Frank Golden Quote
longgone Posted July 31, 2009 Author Posted July 31, 2009 Nothing happens at all ... it just boots right on up into the default OS .. it is as if there is nothing in the tray at all Quote
Ed_P Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 How are you burning it to the CD? What sw are you using? What do you see on the CD after the burning process finishes? Quote
Ed_P Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Does K3B write the ISO file to the CD or creates a bootable CD with the files within the ISO? Quote
longgone Posted August 1, 2009 Author Posted August 1, 2009 I think . that it must just do the latter ... since I can click on it and when I open it .. what I am left with is a file folder with the title Super Grub and the version number/ Quote
Ed_P Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 (edited) Booting with the CD in the tray and the hd's OS starting implies that the BIOS isn't configured to boot from a CD 1st or that the CD is not recognized as being bootable. If you're sure the BIOS is set correctly then the problem has to be the latter. Can you try burning the ISO on a Windows' machine with an app called IMGBurn? Edited August 1, 2009 by Ed_P Quote
longgone Posted August 1, 2009 Author Posted August 1, 2009 I can give it a try .. and see what the end result is ... will get back with it .. Quote

You are only copying the .iso to cd.You need to "burn" the image it to make it bootable. The screenshot below shows what opening the CD in explorer should show exactly.Anything else won't boot.I've never used K3B but this should helphttp://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/answer...Os_in_Linux_K3Bsee the first post.I use Nero in Windows for all my .iso burning needs. If you have Nero start the program after inserting a blank cd (CD-R are recomended but I get good results wirh CD-RW disks). This will open the "Nero Start Smart" applet. Click the little Nero flame icon at the bottom left of window and choose "Nero Burning Rom". When Burning Rom windows opens select recorder from the toolbar and choose burn image. This will take you to a dialog box where you can browse to where your .iso is stored. I usually copy it to my desktop temporarily when burning an image. When you've located the .iso highlight it and click open. This will open a new dialog box, don't change anything, just click the burn button and wait for Nero to finish the burn.BTW, how did you create (burn) the PCLinucOS Live CD.Use the exact same method for Super Grub.
